A Minneola man who was hit by a train in southwest Kansas on Saturday remained at a Wichita hospital as of late Sunday morning.

Marcus Freisener, 22, was in critical condition at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita as of about 11 a.m. on Sunday, according to the hospital’s house supervisor.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, a 22-year-old pedestrian was struck by a train just before noon Saturday east of Minneola on the north side of U.S. Highway 54. The sheriff’s office received a call from Union Pacific Railroad at 11:52 a.m., according to a Facebook post from Sheriff John Ketron on Saturday.

The post referred to the victim as Marcus Minor, though a sheriff’s office representative said Sunday that the original name given was incorrect. Minneola is about 20 miles south of Dodge City.
