What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

Divisiveness, our district has become so divided over COVID issues and it has become hateful on both sides. Our students are watching this, our kids often mimic parents behavior. It is okay to have different views, it is not okay to shame others for their beliefs. A couple of weeks ago my family was at an event and I was having a great conversation with another community member. After leaving, my daughter said, “Mom, why were you talking to that person? They have a sign in their yard for (another candidate).” I said it is okay to not have the same views on issues, I respect their opinion and they respect mine. We really need to work on we may not all have the same beliefs, but we can respect each other’s beliefs. This starts with the parents, but also character education in schools can help with this.

What would your top 3 policy priorities be?

Raising student and teacher morale.

Effective communication between all stakeholders in the district (students, parents, staff, and administration).

Student achievement.
