What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
I don’t believe that Derby should be using the Derby Difference sales tax or grants to fund our fire department. I would work to make funding the fire department in Derby to be a line item on the budget and that we hire an adequate number of firemen for a city the size of Derby. Currently we are below average and do not have enough firemen to service our city.
What would your top 3 policy priorities be?
I believe that a fully funded fire department with an adequate number of firemen should be a line item on the budget and not funded by the Derby Difference sales tax. As a resident, when you need the fire department you want them to be fully funded.
The second thing that I find really important is roads and infrastructure in Derby. We all know that the roads are in deteriorating condition in Derby and we are patching them up left and right. They just repaired Rock Road through Derby and it’s a mess. What we really need to do is spend tax dollars to get them fixed and fixed properly.
The third item that I think is important to be addressed is proper storm water drainage. Residents of Derby have had their basements flooded and their properties destroyed by storm water. Because of this I know how important drainage is to our town.
