No, this is my first time running for public office.
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
The retention and treatment of teachers and paraprofessionals within the district has become a major concern for USD 266. I would address this issue by reviewing how the district has incentivized teachers and support staff to remain with the district, including salary and benefits, speaking with staff about how they feel the board of education could best support them through policy, and working with other board of education members, the Maize Education Association, and teachers to develop policies that create a more positive working environment moving forward.
What would your top 3 policy priorities be?
- Teacher and Paraprofessional hiring and retention with a focus on salary and benefits.
- Creating a review process for district administration, specifically the superintendent.
- Diversifying and evaluation of curriculum and classroom practices.
