Tuesday is the last day to register to vote before the August primary.

First-time voters with a valid Kansas driver’s license or non-driver’s identification card can register online at sedgwickcounty.org/elections/voting.asp.

Those who don’t have either form of identification can fill out a Kansas Voter Registration Application – available digitally at the same website or in hard copy at the election office and at registration outposts like the city clerk’s office or many QuikTrip locations – and return it to the election office. In Sedgwick County, the election office is at 510 N. Main in the old courthouse building.

Kansans registering for the first time must show proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization documents or Bureau of Indian Affairs card number. Those registering online can upload their scanned citizenship documents in PDF format at the end of the application process.

Voters who move, change their names or change their party affiliation must re-register with their updated information. Though the deadline for voters already registered with one party to change their affiliation has passed, voters who registered without choosing a party affiliation may affiliate at any time, including at the polls on Election Day.

Voters can vote early in person or by mail or at their local polling place on Election Day.

The election office will begin mailing advance ballots for the August primary on Wednesday. To vote early by mail, voters must fill out an application, available at the website shown above, and fax it or mail it to the election office, 510 N. Main, Suite 101, Wichita, KS 67203.

Advance voting in person begins July 20 at 8 a.m. and ends at noon Aug. 1. Voters can find the advance vote center nearest them at the website shown above and can vote by paper ballot or on a voting machine after being checked in.

Voting on Election Day, Aug. 2, opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m. Voters can find their polling place and check their registration information at myvoteinfo.voteks.org/VoterView/.

Anyone with questions about the voting or registration process can call a 24-hour voter information line at 316-660-7120.
