GOP forum planned for Sedgwick County Commission candidates
The Wichita Pachyderm Club will host a candidate forum on June 10 for Republicans running for the Sedgwick County Commission.
The forum will offer a look at the race for Sedgwick County’s District 3 between commissioner Karl Peterjohn and primary challenger David Dennis, both Republicans.
Peterjohn has held a commission seat since 2009. Dennis is the former state board of education chairman. District 3 includes parts of west Wichita and the western half of the county.
The forum will also feature Michael O’Donnell, a state senator who is leaving the Kansas Legislature to run against commissioner Tim Norton in the county’s District 2. That south-central county district includes Haysville, Clearwater and parts of south and southwest Wichita.
Norton, a Democrat, and Goddard Mayor Marcey Gregory, who is running as an independent in Peterjohn’s district, will not participate, because they aren’t running as Republicans.
The forum is 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Petroleum Club on the ninth floor of the Bank of America building in downtown Wichita.
It also includes a buffet lunch. The forum costs $12 to attend for Pachyderm Club members and $15 for nonmembers.
