U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio officially filed for the Kansas Republican caucus on Monday.

The Florida senator already has been endorsed by U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita. Rubio is the sixth candidate to file for the March 5 caucus, which requires a $15,000 fee.

Pompeo, who is co-chairing Rubio’s campaign in Kansas, praised him as “a conservative leader for the 21st century” in a statement.

Other notable supporters who could be instrumental for Rubio in Kansas include Senate Majority Leader Terry Bruce, R-Hutchinson, and his faith outreach director, Eric Teetsel, Gov. Sam Brownback’s son-in-law.

Rubio, who would be the first Latino president, is polling third behind real estate mogul Donald Trump and retired surgeon Ben Carson, according to the most recent poll from ABC and the Washington Post, which had him at 11 percent.
