To avoid conflicting with the World Series, KCTU-TV has rescheduled today’s television debate on Wichita’s proposed 1-cent-per-dollar sales tax, a station official said.

The debate will take place at 6 p.m. today – an hour before the winner-take-all, game seven match-up between the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants, said news director R.J. Dickens.

The debate will be broadcast live on KCTU, Channel 43.1 on broadcast TV and Channel 43 on U-verse. The station is not carried by the Cox cable system.

The debate will also be streamed live on www.kctu.com, Dickens said.

The city issue on Tuesday’s ballot asks voters to approve 1-cent sales tax to fund water, roads, public transit and job creation programs.

Debating in favor of the proposal will be Jon Rolph, president of Sasnak Management and co-chair of Yes Wichita.

Bob Weeks, an anti-tax activist, blogger and part-time TV host, will represent the campaign urging a “no” vote on the measure.
