If you’re a Kansan who recently turned 18, moved to the state, became a citizen, or haven’t been voting, Tuesday, Oct. 15, is the last day to register to vote in the 2024 election.

Kansans will vote for president on Tuesday, Nov. 5, as well as a variety of local and state officials.

You have a variety of ways to vote in Kansas, including by mail, early in-person, or in person on Election Day. Just make sure you’re aware of the deadlines and requirements involved.

Not sure if you’re registered, or want to check what’s on your ballot? Use Kansas’ VoterView tool and look up your information with your name and birth date.

How to register to vote in Kansas

There are several ways to register to vote, including online through the Kansas Department of Revenue’s website. There’s also a paper form option if you don’t have a state ID.

You’ll need to supply your name, Kansas address, date of birth and other identifying information. You can pick a political party but don’t have to.

If you need to change anything about your registration, including your name, address, or political affiliation, you must re-register, according to the secretary of state.

Who can vote in Kansas?

You must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Kansas and 18 years old by Election Day. There’s no minimum amount of time you have to live in Kansas before you can vote, as long as you’re registered by the deadline.

You cannot be in prison or jail or on probation or parole for a felony conviction, but you could be allowed to vote if you have completed your sentence for a felony conviction. The exception is for those convicted of a felony or misdemeanor for election-related crimes. People who have been declared legally incapacitated cannot vote.
