More than 4,000 Wichita residents will vote at a polling place different than their normal location on primary Election Day next Tuesday.

According to a Sedgwick County press release, roughly 4,300 voters who were set to vote at Woodland United Methodist Church were notified by mail that they will now vote at North High School’s gymnasium (1437 N Rochester St.) on Aug. 6. This change is for voters in precincts 609 and 610.

The county cited an issue with the HVAC system as the reason for this change.

“It is anticipated the HVAC system at Woodland United Methodist Church should be fixed in time for voters to cast ballots at this location for the Nov. 6 General Election,” Thursday’s press release read.

This isn’t the first time this has happened this election season.

Residents in precincts 105, 130 and 339 were notified in July that their polling location, Heart of Christ Church, would change for the primary to Linwood Recreation Center, 1901 S. Kansas St.

Where is my polling place on Aug. 6?

It’s a safe practice to double check your polling place before heading out to cast your vote Tuesday.

Voters can see their polling place on the Kansas Secretary of State’s VoterView website by entering their first and last name and date of birth. From there, they can also see their party affiliation and a sample ballot.

Early satellite voting locations are open through Saturday. Voters can also cast their ballot early at the Sedgwick County Election Office through Aug. 5.
