Kansans have until Oct. 17 to register to vote. Other 2023 election dates to know
Sedgwick County is celebrating National Voter Registration Day by encouraging people to register to vote before the November election’s Oct. 17 deadline.
Anyone 18 years or older who is a U.S. citizen can register to vote. You can register to vote online, in person or by mail.
Additionally, the county is looking for 50 to 75 more election workers to work this general election season, a county spokesperson told The Wichita Eagle via email. In order to work the polls, you have to be a registered voter or a 16- or 17-year-old who will be eligible to vote when they turn 18.
All poll workers are required to be available on election day from 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. and attend the required election worker training. Election workers are paid $8.50 an hour, while election supervising judges are paid $11 an hour.
Applications for election workers and student election workers (ages 16 and 17) are available online on the county’s website. To learn more, you can call 316-660-7119 or email electionworker@sedgwick.gov.
