Public luncheon with League of Women Voters to focus on proposed sales tax
The League of Women Voters will host a brown bag luncheon on the sales tax issue from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 28 in the third-floor auditorium of the Wichita Public Library, 223 S. Main.
The luncheon will include information from Yes Wichita, which supports the proposed sales tax, and Coalition for a Better Wichita, which opposes the sales tax. There will be time at the end of the forum for questions from attendees.
It is estimated the sales tax would collect nearly $400 million over five years to go toward a new water supply ($250 million), street maintenance ($27.8 million), transit ($39.8 million) and job development ($80 million).
The event is free to the public. Beverages will be provided.
