Sedgwick County and Kansas voters: What you need to know to vote
The primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Voters will choose candidates for the U.S. Senate to replace Pat Roberts, who is retiring. They also will narrow the field of candidates for two Sedgwick County Commission seats, the state school board, the county treasurer’s office and some state House and Senate seats.
To see a sample ballot, enter your name and birthdate at https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/voterview
That website, operated by the Kansas Secretary of State’s office, also will list the location of your polling place and the status of your advance ballot, if you requested one.
Can’t vote in person on Election Day? You have three options:
▪ Vote in person at the Sedgwick County Election Commissioner’s office in the historic county courthouse, 510 N. Main. Enter from the west side. Advance voting began July 20.
▪ Request a mail-in ballot at https://www.sedgwickcounty.org/elections/ or call the Sedgwick County Election Commissioner’s Office at 316-660-7100. Applications for advance ballots had to have been received by the election office by July 28.
▪ Vote in-person at a satellite location beginning July 30. The locations will be listed on the election office’s website and at kansas.com.
It’s too late to register to vote or to switch parties for the primary election. But if you are registered as an independent voter, you can request either a Democratic or Republican ballot at the polls or when requesting a mail-in ballot.
Registration for the November election opens on Aug. 5.
