Gov. Sam Brownback picks up Democratic support in Kansas City, Kan.
Two prominent Wyandotte County Democrats on Friday publicly endorsed Republican Gov. Sam Brownback.
Backed by more than a dozen other supporters in the Argentine section of Kansas City, Kan., Democrats Nathan Barnes and Alfred Murguia applauded Brownback’s work on behalf of the state’s urban areas.
“I was able to look inside of his heart,” Barnes said. “He wants to get into the community.”
Barnes and Murguia said Brownback’s work has helped older areas in the central city as well as western Wyandotte County. Without that aid, they said, recent construction projects in Argentine would have been difficult.
Brownback thanked both for their backing.
“It’s a really strong statement of the work that I’ve done together with the folks in Wyandotte County,” he said.
Nearly 100 Kansas Republicans recently endorsed Brownback’s Democratic opponent, Kansas Rep. Paul Davis.
