Planned Parenthood de-funding date, court hearing delayed for third time
A court hearing for Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit against the state – for trying to take away its funding – has been delayed for a third time. The court date is now set for June 7. Planned Parenthood would no longer receive Medicaid payments to pay for health care for low-income residents on July 7.
The state sent Planned Parenthood a letter on May 3 saying it planned to de-fund the organization. Planned Parenthood sued the state the next day.
Private attorneys the state hired announced Tuesday they would withdraw representation in the lawsuit, according to a Planned Parenthood news release.
Because of that, the release said, the state asked to delay the court date. With each court date delay, the de-funding date moves, too.
