Lange Companies has withdrawn its application for tax incentives to remodel its corporate headquarters in south Wichita.

The Wichita City Council denied industrial revenue bonds for the same project earlier this year, voicing concerns about offering tax breaks for corporate headquarters and for a project that did not promise to create new jobs.

The announcement was made at the council meeting Thursday evening, even though a second request for the bonds was on the agenda for the meeting.

No explanation was given by Assistant City Manager Troy Anderson, who told the council about the withdrawal.

Lange’s application had asked for more incentives this time around, and promised 16 new jobs with an average annual wage of $65,000.
