Brownback named to national education nonprofit’s board

Gov. Sam Brownback has been named to the board of a national education nonprofit meant to help steer at-risk youth toward careers.

This week Brownback visited with students enrolled in the Jobs for America’s Graduates program in Wichita and other cities. His office announced Thursday that the governor has been named to the organization’s board.

“The JAG program has profoundly affected the lives of the students participating in it,” Brownback said in a statement. “I am pleased to serve on the board and to work with JAG in its efforts to prepare students to succeed both academically and personally, providing them skills to build a positive future.”

The program, implemented at 25 Kansas high schools last year, pairs at-risk students with specialists that try keep them on track for graduation and on the path to a career.
