The incoming Kansas House speaker has tapped one of Senate President Susan Wagle’s staffers to serve as his chief of staff.

Rep. Ron Ryckman, R-Olathe, who will officially become speaker next month, announced Wednesday that he has hired Paje Resner to serve as his chief of staff.

Resner had worked as Wagle’s communications director since September 2015 after previously working as a lobbyist.

“I’m confident that she will be accessible and informed, as she was in her work for the Senate President,” Ryckman said in a statement. “Her knowledge of both chambers will be an asset for us all.”
