Famed scientist and atheist Richard Dawkins gave public voice to some engineers who doubt that a boy who was arrested for bringing a clock to school, actually built the clock.

Ahmed Mohamed was arrested last week in Texas when he brought a clock to school that school and police authorities thought was either a bomb or an attempt to look like a bomb. The arrest led to an outcry that Mohamed was being singled out for being Muslim and President Obama invited him to the White House to show off his clock.

Now Dawkins is giving voice to what some engineers on the Internet have said is just a factory-made clock that was taken out of its case and placed in a pencil box.

Dawkins posted a video of an engineer who analyzed a picture of Mohamed’s clock, describing evidence that it was a store-bought alarm clock.

Conservative media outlet Breitbart has called attention to Mohamed’s father, who has tried to run for president of Sudan.

Mohamed and his parents have not yet responded to the questions raised.
