Two motorcyclists crash and fall from highway overpass, FL cops say. Woman dies
A 25-year-old woman fell from a highway overpass to her death after a motorcycle crash in Florida, state troopers said.
The fatal crash happened on Interstate 4 shortly after 9 p.m. on April 21 in the Orlando area, according to an incident report from Florida Highway Patrol.
The woman was riding her motorcycle alongside a 34-year-old Orlando man on a separate motorcycle when they tried to take an exit ramp towards Maitland Boulevard, troopers said.
The highway curved right, but they didn’t make the turn, each of them crashing into a concrete wall and getting thrown from their bikes over the edge of the overpass, highway patrol said.
They landed in the grass below, and the Kissimmee woman, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, according to state troopers.
Their bikes back up on I-4 kept going along the concrete wall until they came to a stop, one in the road, one on the shoulder, FHP said.
The man without a helmet was hospitalized in critical condition, according to troopers.
Florida Highway Patrol said it did not yet know their relationship. The crash is under investigation.
