Teacher accused of sexually abusing teens, IN cops say. ‘At least 5 — maybe 10 — boys’
A now-former Indiana teacher is accused of sex acts with teenage boys, providing drugs and sending sexual photos to students, according to officials.
The sexual abuse allegations against Brittany Fortinberry, of Martinsville, come months after the 31-year-old lost her job at Eminence High School in late August, following accusations from two students that Fortinberry sent them nude pictures of herself, her stripper pole and multiple sex toys, WXIN reported.
McClatchy News reached out to Eminence High School and an attorney listed for Fortinberry on Feb. 25 but didn’t immediately receive a response.
But in December, investigators say they learned of more disturbing conduct after a teen told his grandmother he had been victimized by Fortinberry, and the grandmother went to authorities, WTHR reported.
According to court records, the boy told investigators he was repeatedly molested by Fortinberry at her home in October 2023, when he was 15 years old. On several occasions, she gave him drugs — specifically mushrooms — then raped him, the outlet reported, citing court documents. He said he wasn’t alone, that Fortinberry performed sex acts with “at least five — maybe 10 — boys,” and that he was now coming forward because he didn’t want any more boys to go through what he did, detectives said.
The teen said he met Fortinberry through a friend, whom she was already accused of performing sex acts with, WISH reported.
The boy told police she would brag about work she had done to her body and told him about her previous job as a stripper, the station reported, citing a probable cause affidavit. He added that he didn’t want to have perform sex acts with her, but she would get mad if he didn’t do what she wanted, according to officials.
The new charges were filed against Fortinberry on Friday, Feb. 21, court records show.
She is facing three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, one count of dissemination of matter harmful to minors and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Eminence is a roughly 35-mile drive southwest from Indianapolis.
