A veteran police officer leaving a fellow cop’s funeral died in a crash on his way home, according to Pennsylvania police and news reports.

The Phoenixville Police Department announced the death Oct. 28 of Officer Arthur “Art” Scena IV. He had been with the department since 2019 and was a member of the law enforcement community for 14 years.

Scena was leaving the funeral Oct. 27 of a fellow police officer who had died from cancer, according to WCAU and The Daily Voice. The publications reported he was just minutes away from his home when he was involved in the Warminster Township crash.

Police did not offer additional details about the crash.

The 39-year-old husband and father of two was a member of the Bullet’s Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, according to a GoFundMe. The group would coordinate memorial rides and benefits for fallen members of the law enforcement community.

He was the glue that held this club together,” an obituary says.

Noting his involvement with police departments, prisons and the Philadelphia Housing Authority, loved ones said in the obituary that Scena “lived to serve his community.”

Phoenixville is about a 30-mile drive northwest from Philadelphia.
