‘Poor Boo Boo.’ Cat wonders ‘what went wrong’ after owner surrenders her to NJ shelter
Boo Boo the cat lived with her owner since she was just a kitten — until they surrendered her to a New Jersey animal shelter about six years later.
Now, the “sweet” cat spends her time at the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter as she “remembers what it’s like to have someone that cares about her,” the shelter said on Facebook.
“Poor Boo Boo. She really needs to go home,” the shelter said in the June 18 post. “She had a good home since she was just 8 weeks old but due to her owner having to move to a place where no pets are allowed, here she is, wondering what went wrong in her life.”
A photo shows the black and white tuxedo cat peering at the camera from the safety of her “hidey-bed.”
“Boo Boo is really a sweet girl but right now, she just doesn’t know what’s going on,” the shelter said. “When you pet her, she just melts…. She wants to plop on the couch next to someone that loves her, gaze out the window of a quiet, peaceful home, and be someone’s best friend again.”
The shelter hopes to find a “relaxing, commotion-free home” and someone who will take a chance on her. Although Boo Boo hasn’t lived with other cats before, she is being kept in the shelter’s free-roaming area “and is just fine with other cats that don’t give her any grief.”
Several people shared how heartbroken they were for Boo Boo in comments on the post.
“I am so (sorry) this sweetheart lost her only home she has ever known,” someone said, including a heartbroken emoji.
“Boo Boo is gorgeous & she doesn’t understand what has happened to her! Please someone open your heart & home to this deserving baby,” another person said.
The shelter is located in Forked River, about a 45 mile drive southeast from Trenton.
