A teen died after getting trapped in a mobile home fire, Washington officials said.

Officials with Snohomish Regional Fire responded to the Three Rivers Mobile Home Park on reports of a camper on fire, according to an Oct. 29 Facebook post by the department.

A 14-year-old girl, according to King 5, was trapped in the trailer with her parents and brother, fire officials told the news outlet. The three people were able to escape, according to the news outlet.

After officials arrived at the scene, the trailer was “fully engulfed in fire,” and they began their rescue attempt, officials said.

Crew members used a high-pressure hose directed at the area where they believed the teen was trapped, officials said.

After the fire was put out, officials found the girl dead in a “sleeping area in the front” of the camper, officials said.

After looking at the fire pattern, crews determined the fire started at the back of the camper. The exact cause will be determined by county fire marshals, Peter Mongillo, a spokesperson for the fire department, told McClatchy News in an email.

Fire officials urged the public to remember, as temperatures drop, to keep flammable materials at least 3 feet away from any heat source and to have a fire alarm installed, the release said.

Snohomish is about 30 miles northeast of Seattle.
