Missing hunter found dead after falling 40 feet from tree, Pennsylvania police say
A 61-year-old man was found dead after he didn’t return home from his hunting trip, according to police in Pennsylvania.
Kim Plasters reported her husband missing at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, and said he never came back home from archery deer hunting the night before, The News-Item reported.
Pennsylvania State Police troopers and state game wardens immediately began searching for Robert Plasters, of Paxinos.
But hours later, shortly before 2 p.m., the hunter was pronounced dead in a wooded area of Shamokin Township, The News-Item reported.
He had been found face down at the bottom of a tree after falling about 40 feet, authorities said in a news release. An autopsy was scheduled, though investigators consider his death an accident and do not suspect foul play.
Shamokin Township is about 130 miles northwest of Philadelphia and a few miles southwest of Paxinos.
