A 61-year-old man wanted to hide from his fiancee that he is a sex offender — but his plan backfired, according to an Oklahoma sheriff’s office.

The man, Glenn Goad, was convicted of forcible sodomy of a child in 2006, the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook, and had to register as a sex offender.

He did register, but not in a way that would keep him from being arrested again.

In an attempt to hide that part of his past from his fiancee, Goad registered as a sex offender with an incorrect address, according to the sheriff’s news release.

Deputies learned he used the wrong address after they got information indicating that a sex offender had been living elsewhere “for several months,” the release said.

So, on Monday, investigators went and interviewed the man.

“Goad admitted that he had registered using an incorrect address because he did not want his fiancé to find out he was a registered sex offender,” the release said.

In the release, Sheriff Chris Elliot said his office will be “vigilant in tracking Violent and Sexual offenders” in the county.

“I would encourage everyone to be cautious and take some time and get to know someone before your invite then into their homes,” he said.

Goad was taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said, and he was booked into the Wagoner County Detention Center. The release says he was charged on failing to register as a sex offender and furnishing false or misleading information in a sex offender registration.
