Burglar black bear breaks into apartment – and plays the piano

A black bear tickled the ivories after getting inside an apartment in Vail, Colo., a few days ago, authorities have confirmed.

The resident thought a burglar had struck while she was away on May 31, the Vail Police Department reported in a statement posted on the city’s website. But the responding officer surmised a bear had entered through an open kitchen window and foraged for food.

Along with causing some minor damage, the bear took food from a freezer. When the resident checked her internal camera system, she discovered the intruder was, indeed, a bear.

“The chords captured on video were unbearable and the tune was equally grizzly, according to police. Although officers searched the area, the suspect is still at large,” the police statement said.

We’re guessing the beast’s favorite composer is “Bearthoven.”
