Sister, former teacher remember TrenJ’vious Hutton as being charismatic, athletic
TrenJ’vious Hutton’s sister and a former teacher remember him as someone who loved basketball and being the center of attention.
Trentasia Hutton says her younger brother, who died after being shot inside Towne East Square on Friday, was a social butterfly who liked to dance and rap and loved playing basketball with his baby brother, Shrone.
“I am saddened and sick about this. My brother was a loving young man who was trying to make it in this world,” Hutton said upon hearing of her brother’s death.
“He was almost 15 — he was born on March 30, 2007,” Hutton said. “He was the life of the party.”
TrenJ’vious’ personality reached beyond his family, with a former teacher calling him “a light in the classroom.”
Brooke Tyler, who was a paraeducator at Gordon Parks Academy, had TrenJ’vious as a student during the 2020-21 school year.
“You could never have a bad day around him. Between him joking around, laughing and his smile — he would just really light up your day,” Tyler said.
Tyler also noted TrenJ’vious’ love of basketball, saying he was a great athlete.
“He just exuded confidence, and he knew that he had style — and you couldn’t tell him that he didn’t. He was just a smart, athletic young man,” Tyler said in a phone interview.
Tyler says her fondest memory of TrenJ’vious is from a couple months after Christmas break, when students returned to school.
“There was this one day that he walked into class with what I believe were Grinch pajama pants and everybody just clowned him, but like I said, you couldn’t tell him that he did not look good. He did a little mini fashion showing off his Grinch pants,” Tyler said.
A GoFundMe has been set up by TrenJ’vious’ mother to help pay for services.
