All Star Adventures and All Star Sports sell to Florida-based Adventure Landing

UPDATED — Adventure Landing of Jacksonville, Fla., became the new owner of All Star Adventures and All Star Sports Wednesday, and the company plans six months of renovations and upgrades at both sites.

"It's a major job," says Hank Woodburn, who founded Adventure Landing years ago, sold it and recently repurchased it.

Woodburn says repairs are going to take "lots of paint and elbow grease."

Longtime All Star general manager Tom Smith, who used to be over both locations and now manages the east side exclusively, is thrilled.

"These guys are known for a lot of landscaping and just really making things look nice," Smith says. "These guys do a lot of promotions. They do a lot of events."

Adventure Landing has 10 other parks nationally.

All Star Adventures had its start in Wichita as Sports World in the late 1980s. As a family entertainment center, it offered miniature golf, batting cages and go-carts.

All Star Sports had been Wichita Family Golf.
