Wichita State names 10 finalists in Distinguished Scholarship Invitational

Wichita State University has named the 10 finalists in its Distinguished Scholarship Invitational, officials announced in a news release this week.

Two of the finalists will be selected as recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarship, which at $52,000 is among the largest undergraduate awards in Kansas.

The finalists are: Meghan Carver, Mulvane High School; Austin Greathouse, Garden City High; MD Joad, Wichita East High; Kyle Kopecky, Blue Valley North High; Ryan Lee, Eisenhower High; Amy Lightfoot, Rampart High (Colorado Springs, Colo.); Katie Murray, Rolla High; Emily Sarnacki, Winfield High; Jessica Vold, Leavenworth High; and Christopher Vuong, Wichita Southeast High.

This year’s invitational drew 275 students. To be invited to compete, students had to have a 24 or higher ACT score and a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. This year’s finalists have an average ACT score of 28 and an average GPA of 3.88.

Finalists will return to the WSU campus Feb. 25 for final interviews. The Gore Scholars will be announced Feb. 26. All finalists will receive WSU scholarship packages.
