Joshua Blick files for District 4 seat on Wichita school board
One more candidate has filed to run for the Wichita school board, meaning two of three incumbents will have opponents in the April 7 general election.
Joshua Blick, who ran unsuccessfully for the Wichita City Council in 2011 and 2013, will face incumbent Jeff Davis in the race for the District 4 school board seat. The district includes portions of south and southwest Wichita.
There are not enough candidates to require a primary. The filing deadline was Tuesday.
All three board members whose terms expire this year – Davis, Barbara Fuller and Sheril Logan – have filed for re-election. Michael Capps has filed to run for the at-large seat held by Logan.
The seven-member board sets policy for the state’s largest school district, which has more than 51,000 students. Members serve four-year terms and receive no pay for twice-monthly meetings and other work.
