Wichita All-City Honor Concerts begin Monday

Wichita public schools will present their annual All-City Honor Concerts starting Monday at Century II Concert Hall.

The concerts, which are free and open to the public, showcase the talents of hundreds of Wichita band, orchestra and choir students in fifth through 12th grades. Here is the schedule:

▪ All-City Honor Bands – Monday, 7 p.m. Kyle Hopkins, director of bands at McPherson College, will direct the 11th- and 12th-grade honor band.

▪ All-City Honor Orchestras – Tuesday, 7 p.m. Maestro Daniel Hege, music director of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, will direct the high school honor orchestra.

▪ All-City Honor Choirs – Feb. 23, 7 p.m. Julie Yu-Oppenheim, co-director of choral studies at Kansas State University, will direct the high school honor choir.
