Wichita State names finalists in Distinguished Scholarship Invitational

Wichita State University has named the 12 finalists in its annual Distinguished Scholarship Invitational, it said in a news release Tuesday.

The finalists were selected from a group of 380 students who competed for the scholarship in November. To qualify, students were required to have an ACT score of 24 and a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Although all finalists will receive scholarship packages to attend the university, the top two contenders will be awarded the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarship, worth $52,000.

The finalists are: Jorge Banuelos, Wichita East; Sandra Carlo, Maize; Caelan Dean, Andover; Brandon Eckerman, Maize South; Allison Franken, Blue Valley North; Claire Hersh, Goddard Eisenhower; Brayden Hosman, Sterling; Zubair Khan, Wichita East; Cynthia Matson, Sunrise Christian Academy; Sarah Myose, Sunrise Christian Academy; Ashtyn Rottinghaus, Wellsville; and Saylis Sengvilay, Andover Central.

Final awards will be announced at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 28 in WSU’s Marcus Welcome Center.
