‘Five Schools in Five Days’ to showcase Wichita classrooms
The Wichita school district will mark American Education Week next week by inviting people to visit classrooms and see what students are learning.
Superintendent John Allison will host “Five Schools in Five Days,” beginning Monday.
“Education today doesn’t look like it did when many adults were in school, and that’s a good thing,” Allison said in a district news release. “We are preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist and we must challenge them to be critical thinkers, public speakers, team players and life-long learners.”
For information or to RSVP for one of the sessions, call the district’s marketing and communications office, 316-973-4515. Here is the schedule:
▪ Monday: 11 a.m., Northwest High School, machine technology lab and culinary essentials
▪ Tuesday: 2 p.m., L’Ouverture Career Explorations/Tech Magnet, 1539 Ohio, technology integration at the elementary level
▪ Wednesday: 2:30 p.m., Levy Special Education Center, 400 N. Woodchuck, learning opportunities for students with significant special needs
