Police: Former Derby paraprofessional suspected of having sex with student
A former Derby school district paraprofessional was arrested Thursday on suspicion of having unlawful sexual relations with a student, Derby police confirmed.
Derby Police Chief Robert Lee said that after the department received the tip, it gathered information and followed leads, arresting the woman on Thursday.
Police think it happened between April and May this year at Derby High School.
The woman is not currently employed by the Derby school district, Lee said.
An e-mail alert sent out to Derby parents said the woman “resigned from Derby Public Schools well before any allegations were made to the school district or law enforcement.”
The woman will be booked into jail until the District Attorney’s Office decides whether charges should be filed, Lee said.
