Derby adds resource officer at Derby High School
The Derby school district has added another school resource officer for the upcoming school year at Derby High School, the city said in a news release.
Justin Taylor, who has served with the Derby Police Department for the last four years, will join Amanda Boatright as a school resource officer at the high school when classes resume Aug. 13.
Taylor is a former three-sport athlete at Derby High School, who later went on to receive a degree in criminal justice at Wichita State University. In his off-duty time, he will coach track and field at the school, according to the release.
The district has four school resource officers – Taylor and Boatright at Derby High School, and one officer each at Derby Middle School and Derby North Middle School.
