Here’s how many Wichita students tested positive during the past week

Four in-person and six remote Wichita students have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week, according to data released on Friday.

The Wichita school district has been reporting weekly positive cases of employees for a few weeks but started to report student cases on Friday. In both cases, the exact school is not identified.

Friday’s report shows employees and students who tested positive from Sept. 18 to 24.

With remote learning, one elementary student tested positive, two in middle school and three high schoolers.

At in-person, three cases happened at elementary or multiple elementary schools and one at a kindergarten through eighth-grade school.

Seventeen employees have tested positive since the district first reported figures on Sept. 4. The 17 includes the four new cases reported Friday.

Ninety additional employee quarantines were reported Friday, bringing the total to 162.

Of all the employee cases, nine have been reported at the elementary level, three at high school, two at middle school and one at K-8, special schools and non-attendance centers. Elementary schools also have the bulk of the quarantined employees, with 96. The next closest is 20 quarantined at the middle school level.

Wichita has 7,308 employees working in person. The district has a student headcount of 47,230.
