Two Wichita-area teachers named finalists for Kansas Teacher of the Year
Dennis Munk, a physical education teacher at Campus High School in the Haysville district, and Lisa Holt, a special education teacher at Country View Elementary School in Winfield, have been named Region 4 finalists for the 2015 Kansas Teacher of the Year award.
Each received a $2,000 cash award and now are eligible to be named Kansas Teacher of the Year on Nov. 22.
Munk and Holt were among six teachers selected as semifinalists in the Region 4 area, which covers the 4th Congressional District. They were named finalists Sept. 6.
Other semifinalists in Region 4 were Pam Branaman, a fourth-grade teacher at Southwest Elementary in Pratt; Tracy Klaassen, a fifth-grade teacher and Multi-Tier System of Supports coordinator at Remington Middle School in Whitewater; Alejandra Prendes, a middle-school world languages teacher at Maize South Middle School; and Shay Whetstone, a middle-school social studies teacher at Andover Middle School.
The teachers were among 98 across the state nominated for Kansas Teacher of the Year.
