Wichita State names Cindy Claycomb director of WSU Ventures

Wichita State University has announced a new leader for strategic planning, another move designed to advance President John Bardo’s plans to build an innovation campus within the main campus to spur employment and economic development for the area.

Cindy Claycomb has been named director of WSU's newly formed WSU Ventures, the university said in a prepared statement Thursday.

Claycomb has been interim dean of the Barton School of Business. She starts her new job on Sept. 2, the WSU statement said.

Claycomb will also serve as assistant to President John Bardo, with responsibility for strategic planning.

John Tomblin, vice president for Research and Technology Transfer, said in the prepared statement that WSU Ventures will protect and license WSU inventions, connect industry with WSU researchers, and link WSU researchers and technologies with start-up potential to investors and entrepreneurs.
