Training session explores making schools safe for LGBTQ students

The Wichita chapter of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network is holding a professional training day for educators: “Creating Safe Spaces for LGBTQ Youth in Schools.”

The session is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Center of Wichita, 800 N. Market. Cost is $25 and includes lunch and snacks.

The training is designed for K-12 educators and explores how to create a safe, inclusive environment for students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Participants will receive six continuing-education hours.
