Wichita district seeking distinguished-teacher nominations
The Wichita school district is accepting nominations for its 2017 Distinguished Classroom Teacher Awards.
The awards recognize outstanding teachers in seven categories: new elementary, new secondary, primary (pre-K through second grade), intermediate (grades 3-5), middle school, high school and support teacher.
Mailed nominations must be postmarked no later than Dec. 13 or hand-delivered by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 14 to: Robert Garner or Shannon Benoit, Alvin E. Morris Administrative Center, 201 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202.

Award recipients are selected by a committee that includes teachers, school and district-level administrators, assistant superintendents and a member of the United Teachers of Wichita. They will be recognized at a Wichita Board of Education meeting March 13.
