Wichita police seek help solving 2012 homicide
The crime
Around 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, Robert L. Newman, 73, was found dead in his house at 3501 W. Ninth St. by his older brother, who had come by to check on him. Newman, who was retired from Boeing, lived alone. He had been shot, and there were no signs of forced entry.
His house was cluttered with items related to fixing small engines. He repaired items such as lawn mowers and weed eaters, primarily to keep busy and to have contact with other people. He operated a cash-only business. Newman was last known to have contact with someone between 9 and 10 the night before he was found. Some property was missing from the residence.
