A 27-year-old man is suspected of stealing a car from Eddy’s Toyota on Sunday, then driving erratically on the street before parking and breaking into a woman’s house. He was later arrested.

Sgt. Nikki Woodrow, of the Wichita Police Department, said the suspect went to Eddy’s Toyota, 7333 E. Kellogg, around 11:30 a.m. Sunday under the guise of wanting to buy a car.

The suspect allegedly got into a 2016 Toyota Highlander and pushed away a 20-year-old employee of the dealership before driving the car off the lot.

Woodrow said police received 911 calls from residents because of the man’s erratic driving. The suspect then parked the SUV near the 1800 block of Stafford and went into a house where he told a 53-year-old woman that he was hiding from police. The woman told the man to leave; he left without causing injuries or damage.

Police arrested the 27-year-old after a short foot chase in the area. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, auto theft and trespassing charges.
