Inmate hospitalized after attack at Sedgwick County Jail

A 38-year-old man held at the Sedgwick County Jail landed in the hospital with a head injury after he was attacked by a fellow inmate earlier this week, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

The stay was brief, the sheriff’s office said in a news release, and the 38-year-old is back in the jail, where he is receiving treatment from clinic staff.

He was assaulted shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday by a 41-year-old man, the agency said. A team of jail deputies responded and ended the attack.

The 41-year-old is being charged with aggravated battery, the sheriff’s office said. Further details were not immediately available.
