Armed robbers target 3 businesses across Wichita over weekend
Wichita police said Sunday three armed robberies occurred over the weekend in north, south and west Wichita.
Sgt. Wendell Nicholson said the first happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a Phillips 66 at 107200 W. Kellogg, where the 29-year-old male clerk reported a “suspect came in pointing a handgun at him, demanding money.”
Nicholson said the suspect drove off in a gray, four-door Hyundai. He said a customer was able to get a license plate number.
At 10 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to a Subway restaurant at 500 S. Broadway, where a worker who was outside on break was confronted by a man armed with a gray Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver. The suspect, who took an undisclosed amount of cash, was later arrested by police. Both the cash and the pistol were recovered after the arrest.
At around 3 a.m. on Sunday, three female employees at the Mr. Taco restaurant at 700 W. 25th St. were robbed by two men, one of whom had a black semi-automatic handgun.
No one was injured in the three robberies, Nicholson said.
