A 27-year-old woman was arrested following a clash that included gunfire and one vehicle ramming another Tuesday night, police said.

An officer on patrol was flagged down at 17th and Grove at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday by a woman who said people in two vehicles were shooting at each other, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said.

The officer soon found a tan Hyundai van with several bullet holes in it. An investigation showed that the woman got into an argument with a 26-year-old woman at the Valero at 21st and Minnesota, Woodrow said.

As the younger woman drove away from the Valero, the older woman pursued her in the van. A passenger in the first car “began shooting at the suspect’s vehicle,” striking it several times, Woodrow said.

The woman in the van then rammed the shooter’s car at 17th and Hydraulic, suffering minor injuries. She was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated child endangerment and aggravated assault.

There were six others in the van at the time of the clash, Woodrow said. Three of the six were children, including one just 5 months old.

”We still do not know who the passenger was that was supposedly shooting” at the van, Woodrow said.
