Cash taken in Wichita sandwich shop robbery
An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen during an armed holdup of an east Wichita sandwich shop Friday night, Wichita police said.
A 25-year-old woman was working at the Subway at 3301 E. Harry around 10 p.m. when a man with a handgun walked in and demanded she turn over money in the register and the store’s safe, Wichita police Sgt. Steve Yarberry said. The shop is near Hillside.
“The victim complied, and the suspect was last seen running out the west door of the business,” he said.
Yarberry did not say how much cash was taken. The woman wasn’t hurt.
The woman told police the robber was a black man, 35 to 40 years old and 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 with a medium build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray pants with red stripes on the sides and had black fabric covering his face at the time, Yarberry said.
The robber was still at large Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
