A former bookkeeper charged with embezzling $247,000 from the Wichita steel company that employed her pleaded guilty in her criminal case Friday.
Acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said Cynthia K. Griffith, 58, admitted to stealing the money from Griffith Steel Erection of Wichita by writing unauthorized checks from the company’s operating account. She is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 21 on one count of bank fraud.
Griffith faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $1 million, Beall said. The Wichita Police Department investigated the case.
