Man dies from medical condition while evading Newton police
A man died from a medical condition in Newton late Wednesday while evading police arrest, according to a Facebook post from the Newton Police Department.
According to the post, officers stopped a vehicle around 11:30 p.m. in an alley on the east side of Newton. A man and a woman both ran from the scene.
One officer stayed with the vehicle and other occupants inside the vehicle, and another officer pursued the woman, eventually bringing her into custody.
The man went to an acquaintance’s home in the 800 block of Blaine, in Newton, where a resident noticed he was in medical distress.
The resident called 911, but the man later died at the scene.
When police located the man at the residence, he was unresponsive.
