Robbers order man to ATM in south Wichita

A man was robbed in south Wichita by someone who ordered him to an ATM to withdraw money, police said Monday.

The 37-year-old man had been at a QuikTrip in south Wichita at around 7:25 p.m. Friday when a woman asked him to give her a ride to a friend’s house. She directed him to the 2800 block of South St. Francis, where two men got into the back seat and one pointed a handgun and ordered him to go to an ATM, Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said.

The man’s car stalled as they were pulling into a parking lot by the ATM in the 500 block of East Pawnee. The robbers fled after taking the man’s cash and cell phone. Another man was using the ATM at the time, and the victim yelled for help.

Police ask that anyone with information about the robbery call Crime Stoppers, 267-2111, or police investigators, 268-4407.
